Tigers, Muses & Jasmine - The Wild Heroines of Weimar Berlin

featuring Musical Director Alex Rybeck on piano

Written and performed by Leon, Tigers, Muses & Jasmine portrays eight of the most notorious female trendsetters of 1920s Weimar Berlin for which shes has garnered rave reviews. Tigers, Muses & Jasmine intersperses songs by Friedrich Hollaender, Mischa Spoliansky, Hanns Eisler and Kurt Weill with the words, ideas and signature gestures of a remarkable rogues gallery of eight women, including actress-singers, dancers, a journalist and a politician. The show not only celebrates the avant-garde derring-do of these free spirits, it dramatizes the Nazi storm on the horizon as it grows increasingly menacing. Micaela Leon candidly conjures up these eight women – Marlene Dietrich, Anita Berber, Valeska Gert, Rosa Luxemburg, Blandine Ebinger, Ruth Landshoff, Gabriele Tergit, and Claire Waldoff -- free traders in the scandal, rebellion and sense of experimentation that swelled in Berlin between the two world wars.
